Artist Bio

I am currently studying MA Arts and Project Management at Birmingham School of Art BCU after graduating from my BA Fine Art in July 2019.

Alongside my Masters, I interned for the Coventry Biennial specifying in the operations and logistics department where I helped with the general overseeing of the Biennial. I started in September and finished when the Biennial ended in October.  My role included conversations with the artists and their work; how they intend to get their work to the venue and where their work will be displayed; creating spreadsheets for volunteer rotas and arrangements; measuring and making vinyl for the venues and helping set up and build the show.

Currently I am working at the RBSA Gallery as a Front of House Gallery Assistant. I was lucky enough to have my work exhibited as part of the Next Wave Exhibition in February 2020.

Artist Statement...

Examining the relationship between the maternal bond and separation, fine-art-textile and sculpture-based artist Ella Oakley, metaphorically represents this connection in the form of hand-constructed woven or knitted textiles, combined and embodied in plaster. These inspirations are emotive and explore the turbulent relationship between motherhood and feminism and also touch on the corporeal nature of the female human body with the abject.
